As you’ll be able to see from the photographs, we had a fantastic day with the children from Little Poppets nursery and the animals from the Seven Sisters country park. From the moment the pens were set up for the sheep and donkey, residents were getting involved, stroking the animals and reminiscing about farms of the past.

The children were completely natural in mixing with the adults and taking turns to give the sheep their milk. In the meantime, plenty of residents had the opportunity to pet animals large and small, with the rabbits and kittens a particular favourite!

The day was a great success and we’d like to thank all the staff and helpers who put in so much effort to make sure as many residents as possible were given the opportunity to interact. Personally, seeing a resident help a little girl back on with her shoe and Molly being fed candy strings by some happy children were the highlights.

We plan to have more such days of interaction in the home and gardens. To see residents come to life in this way is a goal of ours and we will certainly be building on this template, so watch this space!
